how to make garlic breadsticks

Garlic Breadsticks | Quick and Easy Recipe

Baking is a lot of fun. I have been experimenting with baking bread a lot during this pandemic as have so many people. Many people have been asking me to share some bread recipes but I wanted to make sure it turns out good before I post it for you guys to try. This recipe has sure-shot given me some good results and I am confident you guys will love it. If anyone has ever wanted to try making garlic bread at home, now is the time 😊

To be honest, it’s not quite difficult to bake but just measure everything because that is something crucial when it comes to baking. This garlic bread turned out really good with a nice crispy outside and a soft texture on the inside. I topped it with butter, freshly minced garlic, some dried herbs, pepper and garlic powder. Additionally, you can add parmesan cheese on top once it’s baked. We enjoyed these breadsticks with onion and spinach dip (Get the recipe HERE). You can eat it with some ranch, marinara or any dip of your liking. I personally liked them on its own as well; with some additional melted butter and parmesan cheese on top.

Let me know how you like it and what dips you guys tried it with. Happy Baking! 😉

Prep Time: 10 mins
Rest Time: 2-2.5 hours
Baking Time: 20-25 mins

Ingredients:

11/2 cup of all-purpose flour
1 tsp active dry yeast
50 ml of warm milk
70 ml of warm water
1/2 tsp sugar
1 Tbsp oil
2 cloves of garlic(minced)
3 Tbsp butter
salt, to taste
1/4 tsp white or black pepper
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp dried parsley
1/4 tsp garlic powder

Directions:

In a small bowl, add sugar, yeast and some warm water. Leave it for about 5 mins till it froths and the yeast gets activated

In a separate bowl, add flour, a pinch of salt to taste. When the yeast is activated, add to the flour along with some warm milk and mix together. Knead it to bring together the dough; don’t knead too much, just enough that everything comes together. Add more warm water if needed. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for an hour or two in a dry, warm place. I usually keep it inside the microwave(turned off of course!)

The above method is called proofing. The yeast will work its magic on the flour and the size of the dough will double in size after about an hour or two. Take a Tbsp of oil and gently knead the dough when it’s done proofing. Let it rest again for 30 mins. It helps the dough rest a bit and makes for a softer center when cooked

In a small bowl; melt the butter, add salt, white pepper, dried oregano, garlic powder, minced garlic and mix

Baking:

Preheat the oven to 375℉

Add a Tbsp of semolina flour to the bottom of the pan or just regular flour works well too

Take the dough and using your hands to press down the dough to give it the shape of the baking tray. In my case it was round. You can use a rolling pin if you would like but I prefer using hands. Don’t make it thin. Keep it thick; that will give it a soft bready texture on the inside. Place the dough in the baking tray. Poke holes using a fork so that it doesn’t fluff up when baking

Take the butter mixture, spread it over the garlic bread evenly using a spoon or a brush

Easy Garlic Bread

Bake it in the oven for about 20-25 mins. Take it out of the oven. It will slide off the baking tray very easily. And there you have it; garlic bread with a crispy garlicky buttery texture on the outside and soft delicious center on the inside

Cut thin or thick strip as per preference and Enjoy!
