Puff Pastry Cheese Straws

Crispy Easy Puff Pastry Cheese Straws Recipe

You are going to love this crispy cheesy snack. These puff pastry cheese straws are simple and delicious. This cheesy goodness is best served dunked in some delicious soup; I love them with tomato soup. The pastry is made with a bunch of thin layers and butter; when heated with cheese it tastes exceptional. I add a bit of spice to the recipe which adds a nice kick to these plain ol’ cheese sticks. I am sure you are going to love this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp thyme leaves
  • 1 tsp red chili powder substitute with paprika
  • 1 tsp crushed black pepper
  • ½ cup shredded cheese
  • 1 egg beaten

Instructions

PROCESS:

  • Pre-heat oven to 375℉
  • Gently roll the thawed puff pastry to smoothen. Apply an egg wash over the sheet; making sure you get the edges. Evenly sprinkle salt, garlic powder, chili powder or paprika if using, crushed black pepper. Cover the sheet generously with cheese. I used a mix of cheddar and mozzarella but feel free to choose any cheese you like. Press the cheese using a rolling pin.
  • Fold the sheet in half and roll with a rolling pin again to make sure it sticks. Using a knife; cut into 1-inch strips and make twists with each strip. Apply an egg wash to each strip.
