Cold Friday mornings; working from home and a hot cup of Cocoa, dunking marshmallows in them; that’s what I call a perfect start to my winter morning. You will be reaching for this delicious healthy hot cocoa every day
I do not add any refined sugar but instead, use only a Tbsp of maple syrup and lightly sweetened Chocolate milk. I shot it during the holidays so I did add Marshmallows which did add a lot of sweetness but feel free to skip that and make this as a healthy cup of hot cocoa which will feel like a WARM HUG on those winter mornings. Healthy Hot Cocoa Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp cacao powder or cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 150 ml hot milk Replace with Oat or Almond milk if you are a vegan
- 60 ml hot water
- Marshmallows and some more cacao powder to top optional
Instructions
PROCESS:
- In a mug; add cacao powder, maple syrup and mix using a spoon for a minute; it will begin to look like melted chocolate
- Add in the hot milk and hot water. Mix well and top with the milk froth (Tip: If you do not have a milk frother or for quick froth; whisk the milk before heating in a microwave or gas to create a gentle froth)
SERVING:
- Serve as is or top with marshmallows and/or dust with hot cocoa (if using)
