How to Make Puff Pastry Snakes

Kick off your creativity by preheating your oven to 400°F, or follow the recommended temperature on your puff pastry packaging. Ensuring the right oven temperature is crucial for achieving the perfect golden brown texture.

Take a thawed puff pastry sheet and get ready to shape your snakes. Slice it into half-inch strips, creating the ideal foundation for your creative snake twists.

The real fun begins as you twist each strip from both ends. Keep twisting until they’re tightly rolled. Be as imperfect as you can with this process, remember it is your time to shine.

To complete the snake-like look, flatten one end of each strip onto a wooden skewer. Then, roll the strip around the skewer, creating a snake with its head at one end and the tail end securely stuck on the wooden skewer. Your snakes are taking shape!

Place your snake sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. This prevents the snakes from sticking to the pan and ensures easy cleanup.

Now, it’s time to create the snake’s tongue. Cut a red chili into small squares, and then cut a triangle from the middle of each small square to make the tongue. Alternatively, you can cut two small triangles and use them as tongues as well. These chili tongues add a pop of color and a touch of heat to your snakes.

To give your snakes eyes, place two sesame seeds towards the head of each snake twist, creating those adorable little snake eyes that peer out as they bake.

Before baking, sprinkle poppy seeds over each snake twist. Not only do they add a fun flavor, but they also enhance the appearance of your , making your snakes look like they’ve come to life.

Puff Pastry Snakes
