Honestly, I love stovetop potpourri for its simplicity and fragrant delicious smell. Just keep refilling the pot and it will last you a couple of days. This is such a versatile recipe; you can substitute apples with oranges, lemons, or even both for a citrusy punch. Add or substitute with any winter spice of your choice like star anise or any that you have in store. Stovetop potpourri makes for a great holiday gift as well. Just add a mix of ingredients to a glass jar. Tie with a ribbon and decorate with cinnamon and rosemary sticks or any other herb of your choice.
Christmas Stovestop Potpourri
Ingredients
- ½ cup cranberries
- 1 apple
- 1 orange
- 1 lemon
- 1 Tbsp whole Cloves; Substitute for star anise
- 1-2 whole Black pepper
- 1-2 Cinnamon sticks
- 1-2 Rosemary sticks
Instructions
PROCESS:
- Cut the apple(or substitutes) into thin slices. Place a pot on low heat; add all the ingredients in the pot except the fruit slices. Fill up the pot with 1-1.5 liters of water. Add in the fruit slices and let the pot simmer. In no time; you will have a house smelling like the holidays. Remember to keep refilling the pot with water!
GIFTING:
- Place all the ingredients in the jar. Tie a ribbon on top and decorate with cinnamon and rosemary sticks.
